Company C make a range of 2.5 and 3D engraving, routing and milling machines.

Until recently Company C’s machines were driven by Stepping motors operated by a motion
control system developed for them by a third company. This control system was already operating
at it’s performance limit but the company wished to:
|
|
|
|
|
- improve the productivity of their machines
- improve the quality and surface finish of parts produced
- be able to optionally offer machines driven by DC brushed and brushless servo motors
- maintain compatibility with their existing CAD software and Human Machine Interfaces
- have a PC based system
The company had been aware of NEE for some time and a few months ago an NEE engineer visited them
to discuss our new product range. Subsequently an AMC motion controller was fitted to one of their
machines and dramatic machine performance improvements and a large
reduction in machine noise were demonstrated.
The company were impressed with the demonstration and the many other features and advantages of our
machine controller range. They quickly decided to use an NEE
AMC B series controller on their new machine.
The companies set themselves the challenge to develop a machine which would outperform all other competitors at
the same market level yet still be available at an affordable price. The company says that their
objectives have been met and that all who have seen their machine have been extremely impressed.
The company now use AMC machine controllers across their complete range. NEE development engineers
worked very closely with the company so that all their goals were met.
One of companies customer’s machines 12 x 12 inch dies for 3 dimensional tiles. A typical die took
48 hours to cut with their old controller, with an NEE AMC B the job takes
22 hours. The machine milling speed has not been increased as this is limited by the material being
milled and the cutter. The additional productivity is achieved by operating the machine at optimum
cutting speed wherever possible. The previous motion control system, in common with almost all other
currently available motion control systems, reduced machine speeds due to inherent controller limitations.
A representative from a multinational CAD company recently saw the new machine running a 3D part
program, he was most impressed saying it was by far the best he had ever seen in terms of
productivity and part quality.
