In contrast downloading part programs to the AMC takes a small fraction of the time, and if the next part program is ready before
the current program completes it can be loaded reducing waiting time to 0.
An AMC 3, 3 axis integrated stepper machine controller was retrofitted to the machine using a simple conversion wiring harness
supplied with the new controller. The machine performance was tested and a controller configuration file generated using
AMC Utilities software.

The AMC 3 controller has powerful mini-stepping motor drives fitted internally, these are compatible with the existing motors.
With the new motor drives the maximum machine speed was increased from 180 inches per minute to 320.
Gravograph New Hermes engraver gets increased productivity
Increased engraving machine productivity was achieved mainly by: a) minimising machine slow downs, b) moving the machine considerably faster between
engraved paths, and c) by dramatically reducing part program loading time.
A large amount of time was saved when the controller ran part programs. The advanced features of the AMC ensured that the
machine speed was maximised wherever possible. Part programs were executed in between 50 and 80% of the time taken previously. With the AMC
the machine kept moving more smoothly , slow downs were dramatically reduced.
Engraving job programs comprise mostly of movements performing engraving. Additionally there are fast moves between engraved characters or graphics,
these are performed far faster by the AMC machine controller reducing the time taken.

One of our customers says that the AMC machine controller upgrade has increased the IS6000 machine's productivity by more
than 250%. The operator can now design plates all the time as job download waiting time has been eliminated together with the attendant frustration, and the machine
makes signs far faster.
